Peter Mike

Peter Mike, a senior associate of PECA, has over 17 years experience in the healthcare industry. He is results oriented and an excellent listener and communicator. He specializes in cost containment and reduction, with a focus on meeting or exceeding customer defined expectations, process improvement and creative problem solving.

His professional experiences include:

  • As Assistant Administrator and Director of Materials Management for Tucson (AZ) Medical Center, he reduced operating cost by $4 million through integrating the disparate Material Management Functions. He led the implementation of Material Consulting for six facilities and implemented a Physician Buying Program; reducing supply cost by 30%. He also supervised the assessment, development and implementation of the integrated Material Management Information System; decreasing off-site inventory to ten (10) days on hand. He modified and streamlined the Value Analysis process.
  • As Material Consultant for Tucson Medical Center, he led teams of Material, Clinical and Non-Clinical Leaders from Insurance, Physician, Acute Care, Home Care and Laboratory providers to integrate material functions and focus on Specialty purchases to reduce cost in the supply chain. He helped develop primary point of use medical supply contract that shifted risk to the supplier for integrated Material Management System.
  • As a Consultant for Solutions JIT Inc., Tucson, AZ, he negotiated cost reductions of 6 million dollars and supervised the development of Internet programs to enhance supply chain processes for physician practices. Mr. Mike also developed and implemented strategic plans for Purchasing/Material Management.
  • He has served as an interim materials management professional for a variety of healthcare facilities; including, most recently, for a South Texas integrated delivery network where his focus was to assure contract compliance/commitment, process/quality improvement, staff training, and launching an Internet requisitioning process. He developed a customer service survey, vendor protocol and value analysis process.

Mr. Mike was featured in "Tucson Citizen", a daily newspaper in Tucson, Arizona, and recognized for reducing hospital costs. He was Hospital Purchasing News-Material Manager of the Year and has achieved fellowship status with AHRMM and Healthcare Material Management Society. He has also served as a member of the board of directors for AHRMM and served in leadership capacities for affiliated AHRMM chapters. In addition, he has authored several articles all related to developed and implemented Support Services Management Systems and has had numerous speaking engagements.

Peter Mike graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Behavioral Science.
