Priscilla (Sunni) Beasley R.N.
Sunni Beasley, an associate of PECA, has
over 30 years experience in the field of Healthcare. She has significant experience in
staff administration and surgical services. She is a team leader with diverse operations
background and has had proven success in managing a rapidly changing, quality driven
organization. Her areas of expertise include: strategic planning, budgeting/cost control,
re-engineering processes, recruitment, staffing, policy development, regulatory compliance
and accreditation.
Ms. Beasleys specific accomplishments include:
- As Assistant Administrator-Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse
Executive, Ms. Beasley managed a 30 million dollar budget and directed clinical management
of several departments such as Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Suites, Inpatient Nursing
Care, and Outpatient Clinic to name a few. She guided a project team to plan and construct
a $1.2 million Ambulatory Surgery Center resulting in a $400,000 annual savings. She
facilitated a multi-functional Clinical Pathway team in the development of a plan to
reduce supply and labor costs by 20%. She served on a steering committee to implement
computerized medical record, surgical and facility wide scheduling. She participated as an
educator/facilitator for nursing documentation in the electronic medical record and wrote
instructional manuals for the nursing applications. She wrote JCAHO required Hospital
Plans for the Provision of Patient Care and Emergency Preparedness Manual. She created a
Customer Service Team providing continuous communication to support families/friends in
the waiting area during surgical procedures. In addition, she re-engineered the outpatient
and inpatient care delivery system utilizing (TQM) process improvement teams, which
increased patient and physician satisfaction by 35%. She also increased productivity by
combining staff functions and cross training RNs, LVNs, and Unit Assistants in
all clinical areas. She redesigned and implemented position specific, criteria based, job
descriptions and performance appraisals to reward and motivate the entire nursing staff.
- As Assistant Director of Nursing, Ms. Beasley supervised middle
management and managed staffing, scheduling, recruiting, interviewing, counseling, and
budgetary functions for OR, PAR, ASU, Central Sterile Supply and Outpatient Clinic.
- As Operating Room Supervisor, Ms. Beasley was responsible for:
coordinating daily surgery schedule and staffing for 5000 procedures annually, supervising
15 FTEs incorporating rotational call schedules for OR and PAR, and planning and
preparing operating budget, supply and instrument inventory.
Ms. Beasley belongs to the American Organization of
Nurse Executives, American Association of Operating Room Nurses, and the American Academy
of Ambulatory Nurses. She was a past president of the Birmingham Organization of Nurse
Executives and the Birmingham Association of OR Nurses. She is also a member of the
American Association of Eye and Ear Hospitals Task Force for Quality Initiatives.
Sunni Beasley is a graduate of the University of
Alabama with a B. S. in Allied Health/Healthcare Administration. She received her R.N.
from St. Vincents Hospital at Birmingham, Alabama and her Masters in Health Services
Administration from the University of St. Francis at Joliet, Illinois.
